I didn't feel ready either. From $9.25/hr CNA in Dallas to DNP — 16-hour weekend doubles, 5am study sessions, a baby on my hip. I started anyway.
The Girl Who Left
I boarded a plane to Dallas to join my father, and none of that came with me. Immigration strips you down to the basics.
Before the doctorate, the garden, and the life I love — there was just a woman with a dream she was afraid to say out loud.
I know what it feels like to want more — more from your career, more from your mornings, more from the life you come home to every night — and not know if you're allowed to have it.
I left Nigeria at 17 and started over in Dallas as a CNA making $9.25 an hour. I worked 16-hour doubles on Saturdays and Sundays, studied at 5am with a baby on my hip, and carried a goal so big it felt embarrassing to say out loud — a doctorate, a career in anesthesia, a life that looked nothing like where I started. So I kept it quiet and just kept building.
Today I'm a DNP, CRNA, and PMHNP. But this brand isn't about the title — it's about what came after. The freedom to choose how I spend my mornings. The ability to be present for my family. The space to build a life on my own terms. I didn't do this alone — there was a village, and 5am parking-lot prayers, and a husband who became both parents in seasons I couldn't be either. That's what was waiting on the other side.
If you've ever felt like there's a bigger life waiting for you underneath the one you're living — you found the right place.

Courtney's Corner
Got a question? Pull up a chair.
Courtney's Corner is where you can ask me anything — about my career, your next step, or what I'd tell you over coffee.
The view changes when you move.
You don't need to see the whole staircase. You just need to take the next step. Scared is fine. Exhausted is fine. The book is free — the life is yours to build.
— Courtney
